How Content Formatting Works

Content formatting tools in the Kipwise editor

Simply highlight some text to edit its formatting, the quickest way to handle content formatting on a Kipwise Page.

And you can easily insert content blocks such as images, videos, files and embedded blocks like Trello cards, Figma prototypes and Google Drive files by clicking the plus sign at the beginning of a paragraph.

For text formatting, besides common text formatting such as headings, lists, checklists, quote and code blocks, we also support special formatting such as callout blocks, placeholders and collapsible blocks to help create documentation that is easy to digest.

For example, a callout block is a great formatting option to draw readers’ attention to important points on a Page.

Simply highlight the text or type plus callout to insert a callout block. There are 4 styling options for the callout block so that you can use different colors for content such as warning message, important notice, success message or simply some information to highlight.

If you are creating templates, placeholders will be a really useful format to guide your teammates for parts that need to have more information filled in later.

To create a placeholder, simply highlight the text that you would like to turn into a placeholder and select the placeholder formatting.

Other than text, you can also create placeholders for images, video, files or any embedded blocks such as Trello, Figma, Invision and more.

To help you create more compact documentation, you can collapse and hide certain information using a collapsible section, which is a great way to format things like FAQs.

Simply highlight the text that you would like to convert or type plus collapsible to add a collapsible section block.

Then you can collapse or expand the section using the blue arrow at the beginning of the block.

A decision rule for collapsible sections: only hide detail a reader can safely skip, like FAQs or edge cases, never a step everyone needs to see. The section starts collapsed, so anyone skimming the page will miss whatever is inside it unless they know to expand it or search the page for that text.

Other than text formatting, our Page Editor also supports a wide variety of content blocks to help you create visually appealing documentation.

Simply type plus at the beginning of a paragraph and you can insert rich media such as images, videos, files, iframes or embed content from sources like Google Drive, Trello, Figma and more.
